THE SCENE OF INSCRIPTION

Institutionalized psychoanalysis is not just a particular angle on reality. It is a practice of systemic thinking that establishes means of accessing and experiencing lived reality. The emergence of its institution featured new clinical methods which performed a crucial role in engendering a particular, culturally signified body — the imaginary creation that looms over the corporeal form through which it operates.

The Scene of Inscription is a performative act, resulting from a year long research realized in a field of psychoanalysis. Performance critically explores the leverage psychoanalytical theory upholds in common perception of identity and sexuality by utilizing the psychological strategies that enabled it.

During the performance, each performer is equipped with tactical gear that takes up the function of the interface. The gear accommodates series of objects to the performer’s bodies, creating a new landscape that extends and redefines the body’s boundaries. Through this transformation, performance critically explores how meanings can be re-inscribed within new systems, trans- cending established norms.
